Why I Started This

I’ve always believed when we see someone suffering, we should never look away or forget that in which we saw. Striving to acknowledge suffering when it’s right in front of us is what keeps us in touch with our humanity. Truthfully, it’s a gift we give ourselves — the gift of understanding.

For a long time, I felt helpless watching Palestinian families endure unimaginable hardship — mothers just trying to feed their children, fathers searching for safety, children surviving trauma no child should ever know. I realize I can’t fix everything… But I can do something.
And so can you. One Dollar One Family began as a small idea — a way to help even one family breathe a little easier, sleep a little warmer, or feel a little more seen. What I didn’t expect was how many people felt the same way. How many people were just waiting for a way to help that felt simple, real, and accessible.

This platform is my promise:
that no family’s pain will go unnoticed,
that no story will be ignored,
and that no donation is ever “too small” to matter.

Its Personal

I recently reverted to Islam, Alhamdulillah, which didn’t happen overnight.

My heart found its way slowly — through questions, through searching, through finding who I was as a person, through healing… and through witnessing the strength and suffering of the Palestinian people.

Their resilience, their patience, their faith in the face of unimaginable hardship — it revealed something within me that I subconsciously longed for.
– I saw mothers who had lost everything still whispering Alhamdulillah.
– I saw fathers who could barely feed their children still saying Allah will provide.
– I saw children who had every reason to hate the world… still smiling, still giving, still believing.

SubhanAllah.

The Palestinian people showed me what faith truly looks like, and through them, I understood the meaning of compassion, sabr, and community.

Once my heart awakened, I couldn’t look away anymore.

“And what is [the matter] with you that you do not fight in the cause of Allah for the oppressed among men, women, and children— those who say, ‘Our Lord, take us out of this city of oppressors, and appoint for us from Yourself a protector, and appoint for us from Yourself a helper?’”
